Q & A

You have a question? We might just have the answer for you right here!

We are an open community for students from all universities that offers real insight into marketing practices and connects you with leading companies. Membership is worthwhile because you’ll gain access to exclusive workshops, business cases, and events – while also becoming part of a strong network that will help you grow both professionally and personally.

As a member, you apply using our online form, which will be available on our website during the respective application period: For the winter semester, starting around the end of August & for the summer semester, starting around the end of January. In the application form, we ask for your resume, a statement of motivation, and the number of hours per week you can commit to the club.

As a member, you can apply about one month before the start of the new semester, we’ll announce the exact start date and application deadline prominently on our social media channels. Applications are submitted via the form available on our website – so it’s worth following us on Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Each semester, we offer our members a diverse program of hands-on activities and community events. These include:

  • Business Cases: Our members typically work on two business cases per semester. The partner companies change each semester, ensuring that a variety of industries and issues are covered. The cases usually span multiple sessions and involve preparation as well as project work between meetings.
  • Social Events: Our community events are one-time events that do not require any additional project work. They are designed to foster exchange, networking, and a strong sense of community.
  • Soft and Hard Skills Workshops: In addition to the business cases, we offer individual workshops designed to strengthen specific skills such as presentation, resume writing, communication, and project management – also without any mandatory preparation or follow-up work.

As a general rule, anyone who misses more than three sessions will not receive a certificate at the end of the semester.

However, you are still welcome to participate in our events – the certificate is an additional form of academic recognition, not a criterion for exclusion.

We also ask that you notify us of any cancellations as early as possible. Timely cancellations help us plan professionally with our partners while ensuring fair access to spots and optimal processes for all members.

Currently, membership in the WU-Marketing Club cannot be credited toward your degree as ECTS credits.

Regardless, participating offers you clear added value:

  • You gain hands-on experience through real-world business projects
  • You build a professional network
  • You develop soft and hard skills that are relevant to both your studies and your career
  • Plus: Active membership looks great on your resume, as it demonstrates commitment, the ability to work in a team, and an interest in practical marketing.

If you actively participate in the club, you’ll receive a certificate at the end of the semester.

Yes, we’d love that, actually. You can apply to become a team member at any time between semesters. We’re always happy to welcome new support and fresh perspectives.

Working with the team is voluntary and unpaid, but it offers you real added value:

  • You’ll gain valuable work experience in organization, communication, and project management
  • You’ll develop important soft skills, such as teamwork, leadership, and professional communication
  • You’ll benefit from our strong network of students, alumni, and corporate partners
  • You’ll work alongside a motivated team that collaborates to organize events and projects

The maximum number of participants per semester is 40. Since the number of applications varies, unfortunately we cannot always accept everyone – which makes it all the more important that your application stands out. Good luck!

The time commitment, of course, depends on how much you want to get involved and which projects are particularly important to you. Overall, however, we estimate about 3 hours per week for events and their preparation.

Once you’ve received an acceptance from us, your membership lasts for an entire semester. If you’d like to rejoin after graduation, you’ll need to reapply using the form during the next application period.

You can apply to join us again and again, regardless of whether you’ve been a member before or not.

You can contact us at any time via our email address, [email protected], or through the contact form.
